Kalizma is a flybridge cruiser, strip-planked in oregon pine (Douglas Fir) copper nailed and clenched on Australian Hardwood. She was originally built in 1972 as a club game fishing boat to operate offshore of Sydney Australia. Her original name and owner is unknown as the builder Peter Bracken destroyed his records when he retired from boatbuilding in the late 1970s.
She has been somewhat (mostly sympathetically) modified by previous owners to provide better accommodation as a family cruiser. Her game fishing days are over but she is still a great sea boat and has many years left!
I am at least her 5th owner and purchased her in Victoria, Australia in 2014. I cruised her up the coast to Broken Bay just North of Sydney. Since then I have been maintaining and slowly restoring her as shown in the pictures.
After a serious attack of shipworm a couple of years ago, the hull has been sheathed to the waterline to prevent further damage.
She came to me with the name Kalizma and I have kept it. It appears to be a touch of humour as the only other boat on Marine Traffic with that name is a 110 foot luxury launch once owned by Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor!
