One-of-a-kind, 26 foot all wood Hank Hinckley Great Harbor 26 day cruiser with new Nanni N.2 14 hp Diesel and new sail drive. Hull is three layers of Western Red Cedar capped with Honduran Mahogany and cloth with 20+ coats of clear Awlgrip, updated electronics, including new radar and chart/plotter. Easily solo sailed in even the lightest of winds, new retractable hydraulic keel, 75 hours on Nanni engine, , two cylinder diesel and new sail drive the combination of which pushes Joy at a good 7 knots. Joy is a combination day sailor/coastal cruiser that draws 13″ with keel up and 4’10” with keel down. She sleeps two in the forward v-berth and 2 in 1/4 berths, has electric stove, sink, head, and comfortable, dry cockpit. Bottom has been sanded and repainted, all bright work is in tip top shape, main and jib recently professionally cleaned and in excellent condition including appropriate canvas work. This boat is a custom, hand built work of art that is listed by its owner. Since her launch, Joy has had only two very caring owners the first of which sailed her in and around the waters of Southwest Harbor, and the current owner sails her in the waters of Little Egg Harbor Bay in New Jersey, and along the coast of the mid-Atlantic States. I remember seeing JOY arrive on her trailer at a Savannah, Georgia boat ramp, then rigged and launched. She spent the winter cruising the shallow bays, rivers and creeks there like we did. It believe it was in 2003 or 2004.
You would be correct in saying you saw Joy in Savanah where she spent a few winters sailing those bays and rivers. One of the designs goals was to make her easily trailerable, a breeze to manually launch and rig. Her first owner wintered in Georgia and subsequently has moved there full time. I am the second owner and keep her in the Mid-Atlantic region.
