33' Fife Double-ended Sloop (1952) - NYACHILWA

28 years ago, I drove to Martha’s Vineyard, from Maine to look at buying a 34′ Fife. Nyatonga. Smitten, I made a lowball offer, which was not accepted. What can I say, I had no money. Subsequently, she was sold and shipped to Germany never to be seen or heard of again! Meanwhile, I developed a friendship with Kevin Sullivan (the second to last owner) of Nyachilwa. Nyatonga’s sister. We corresponded for a couple of years. Nyachilwa was not for sale. We lost touch, as it happens in life…….until this past August. Nyachilwa showed up for sale, with a new owner, in England. Needless to say, I bought her immediately. She arrived in Halifax in October and is now on the hard at Old Town Boatworks in Lunenburg. And yes, I have renewed my friendship with Kevin Sullivan. Some things are meant to be. DT
