Chantey is a 1927 ketch. She’s been in our family since 1954. I grew up on this boat along with my 5 siblings whom my parents took sailing on the New England coast from Mystic, CT. Babies were put in a bassinet next to the engine cabinet, the safest place and the engine still puts me to sleep. My husband and I still sail the coast to Maine with friends when hurricanes threaten.

I think you should come south and enter Chantey in the Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race this year. Most people don’t know it, but there is an invitational, non-schooner class for traditional boats. This year’s charitable fun race is Oct. 3-8. Check it out at http://www.gcbsr.org We even have a Chantey Sing!

Sounds like fun but I’ll be in Maine then, rented a house and mooring. Thanks for asking!
