Owner’s Description
Havsornen II, “Sea Eagle II.” Edge glued mahogany on steam bent oak. Original owner had her delivered to the South of France (Isles d’Esquiro). She was purchased by a young French merchant marine and his girlfriend who sailed it transatlantic, up the Amazon, through the Caribbean and up to Newport. They raced it there in the first Wooden Boat Race and she won her class. She was sold there to the third owner. He sailed her up to Canada, around Lake Champlain, to Bermuda and then throughout the Caribbean, solo. Afterwards he took her to a mountaintop in Peterborough, NH and did an extensive restoration. I bought her in 1994, hauled her off the mountaintop, cruised her extensively raising two boys aboard, from her home port of Coecles Harbor, Shelter Island, NY. I have raced her quite a bit and she has collected her share of silver – she likes a breeze and points like a demon.ESQUIRO IV is also featured in our WCBS Classifieds, along with scores of other great classic boats for sale. You can find that link in the details on the right.
