Opening Night
Friday, Feb. 18, 2022 at 7:00pm EST in the U.S.
Mix your favorite cocktail, or brew a good cuppa jo, and join the crew as we celebrate the opening of the 2022 Worldwide Classic Boat Show. We’ll have our traditional opening margarita in-hand to kick-off the Show, and we’ll give you an insider’s tour of the website and what’s happening at the Show this week.
Here’s a recorded video of the live presentation.
Off Center Harborita Recipe:
- Pour a 50/50 blend of Hornitos Reposado tequila (or other smooth tequila – NOT Jose Cuervo!) and Simply Limeade (Newman’s Own Limeade is a good substitue).
- Put in Bonne Maman jam jar (or other jar with lid) and shake wildly 40 times.
- Sit back and enjoy the Show.
If you’ve enjoyed the show, you can support our work in these two ways:
-
You can CLICK HERE to become a member of Off Center Harbor.
-
You can CLICK HERE to make a donation for this year’s boat show.
Thank you!!!

In South Dakota and thoroughly enjoying the Worldwide Boat Show. I own a simple wooden boat, a Thompson 15’, the Lady Benaiah that I restored myself with tutorials presented by Eric and Maynard. As a land lubber and lifetime member of OCH, I thank you for all the work you do.

Hello from Red Wing Minnesota in the Hiawatha river valley.
Hi from me, PILAR, and my crew in the Philippines! We’re across the dateline so had to wait until today (Saturday) to begin appreciating the bounty and I want to tell you we stopped work at 3 today, set up a large screen for the seven of us to easily see the laptop projection, and so engrossed was my guy who was supposed to translate into Bisaya for those who don’t understand English that he had to be continually prompted! They’d just finished building a first pair of oars (copying current ones based on Pete Culler’s design) so they were totally enthralled watching Tom Robinson’s video (linked from his website) and are eager to return next week when there is a live video (your Tuesday, our Wednesday). Cannot thank you enough for the massive infusion of inspiration this precious boat show/educational opportunity is to us. I’ve been talking about teaching small boat building for locals, adults and kids, since last year’s show…this year I think it may happen, now that they can SEE what is possible…all thanks to you!
What is a classic boat? That was a wonderful question to help kick things off.
I am drawn to mention Roger Taylor both because he had so much to share with me in answer to the question. And truthfully because with his recent passing I just want to say his name. It took Roger Taylor a sentence or two to give you a verbal sense of the profile, the sections and waterlines of what constitutes a good boat. Then he went and wrote 4 books to give a full set of lines. A picture paints a thousand words so his Good Boats series might be the written equivalent of the wonderful photographs and publications from Ben Mendlowitz and Maynard Bray.
Well, this is quite a gathering of the worthwhile… the good people who bring to people like me good boats.
Thank you Roger. And thank you here for keeping things going… for keeping your watch.
A great team effort by a great team!
Thank you for organizing this.
Thanks for putting this together!
Excellent work, gentlemen! Enjoyed this effort and rejoiced to see old friends (Maynard) and old ships (Victory Chimes) again! Next year, maybe Coronet will be among them… remember her??
Thanks for putting this classic boat show together. It’s very cool! Good job!
I’m from Texas, love your Hornitos Rep comment, it passes muster down here!
Thank you for doing this.
Super. Here in very snowy CANADA we are enjoying your comments and slides.
Great start to the show, Nate and Steve!
It was wonderful last year.
Looking forward to this one 🙂
Fantastic effort!
Congrats!
Thank you for pulling this together! What a terrific resource, I’m so excited to discover this. The welcome presentation was very helpful too. Rock on!
Thanks. Well done. We appreciate you. How many tuned in?
After attending a few of these types of online conferences over the last two years – Incredible job on putting this together!
This was a big help. Thanks guys!
Great intro. Looking forward to the next days.
thank you!!
Thanks for the overview.
Much appreciated.
Time to renew that membership!
😊
Pretty fabulous; thanks for doing this!
Will this map be available after the boat show?
Hi Jack,
Yes the map is available year around, except for the boats “go home”. The rest of the organizations stay up so people can use it as a resource!
Bravo you guys and gals what an heroic effort!
I have enjoyed the wonderful slide show!! Fantastic job. Thank you
I have only been in the show site for 5 minutes and can already say what a great show it is. Congratulations to all involved.
Hello, I submitted my boat weeks ago, is it likely that it will be approved before the show ends?

MV Geordie
Is there a way to see boats added this year for the first time?
Dave – you can search for “new 22” or “new 2022” or “new boats” to see ones added this year.
Does this site work on mobile phones?
Yes, Susan. It’s mobile friendly, but much better on a bigger screen.
awesome comments Steve
Awesome connection, like minded classic boat nuts!
It is so exciting to have this all online so we can share boats and presenters we can’t travel to in person! I love the presentations.
Thanks all! Great work connecting the world of classic boats…
Hi from San Francisco!
Art Brendze’s commentaries have been great additions. Thanks so much.
So do we search for ‘WCBS Choice’ to see the one M&B have selected?
Yep, you can go to Boats and search “WCBS Choice” and their picks will come up.
This whole show is such a wonderful idea. Thank you everyone, for all your hard work. It’s a joy to see all these varied and beautiful boats.
All the work is very much appreciated (on behalf of my young Grandkids who are helping me set up a shop now).
It’s nice to know they will have access to your work long after I pass.

Congrats on pulling us ALL together again! I’m jazzed to see your faces soon and look forward to the live talks and perusing all the new boats and waypoints. Cheers from Port Townsend!
Hi Kaci! So glad you could join us! Your presentation last year was my favorite and I am so glad we get to share it again this year for people to watch on Monday!
Yea Baby! Let the party start!
Any news about bringing back the PT 11 nesting kit?
Hi Dave – it’s back in production thanks to a PT Watercraft partnership with CLC: https://www.clcboats.com/shop/boats/wooden-sailboat-kits/PT-11-Nesting-Dinghy.html
Thanks Nate!
That is a great combo!
