1929 Elco Flat Top available. The full and complete ownership known for the date first ordered in July of 1928/delivered April 1929 Hull # 2561.
Following the first owner there were 6 owners up to 1972 when she was purchased by Tom’s father and upon his death in 1986 it came to his son Tom and has been on the boat for 50 years.
Tom’s my intention was to spend the winters aboard in Florida and everything done on the boat was to make her livable, comfortable and seaworthy.
A few examples are the new fuel and water tanks, a very large (72 gallons) holding tank, 2 separate and independent VacuFlush head systems, an 8 KW genset, new wiring and plumbing, rebuilt galley with new 12 / 120 volt refrigeration disguised to look like an original ice box.
In addition, wherever possible he maintained the original interior woodwork including drop leaf table in the main salon as well as the original leaded glass cabinets and drop front desk, original controls and wheel.
As the work photos will attest, (upon request) the Liberte’ has literally been done “Stem to Stern”. She has received whatever she had needed.
Unfortunately, due to business involvements Tom never did head to Florida for the winters. A few trips to the Chesapeake and many, many sunset cruises on the Metedeconk River near Bay Head, NJ.
