72' Herreshoff NY-50 Class Sloop (1913) - SPARTAN

The only one of the nine identical New York 50s built over the winter of 1912-13, SPARTAN was thoroughly and authentically restored by MP&G of Mystic, CT, and since her relaunching in 20?? has been consistently winning races both in New England and in Europe. She’s also been winning the hearts of all who view her because she’s one of N.G. Herreshoff’s loveliest designs. Although she flies a topsail, her tall pole mast and short boom are precursors to the marconi rig that became almost universally popular from 1920 onward.
