Between 1910 and 1987 Sand Man operated as a commercial tug out of the port of Olympia, Washington hauling barges filled with sand and gravel in Puget Sound. Coming and going across these waters she was a familiar and beloved sight and when she retired the community of her many fans stepped up to support her total rebuild. Now she serves as a floating museum in Olympia.
