42' Traditional Portugese Moliceiro (1990)

Moliceiro, is a traditional boat from Ria de Aveiro, pine wood artisanal construction, around 14 m long. Was used for collecting algae from the bottom of the lagoon to fertilize the agriculture fields. Today is used for touristic traveling. The Moliceiro shows 4 panels, 2 at the front bow, 2 at the stern panels, painted like cartoons, making gossip-theme jokes, about politics, football, boys and girls, local jokes, or also serious patriotic or religious evocations. Usually every year in the Spring time, the Moliceiro is repainted, than also the drawings are updated with new jokes. Also the Moliceiro shows a circular mark at the back on the rudder panel, this mark is like the signature of the builder family.
