UNTOUCHABLE is a rare 1932 20 foot triple cockpit Hacker-Craft. It is one of only two of this model with factory production hull numbers known to exist. It is the oldest factory production model with hull number 2003. It was built in 1932 during the Great Depression while John L Hacker was the owner of Hacker-Craft. It is powered by air. Correct 6 cylinder 135 HP Chrysler Crown motor.
Prohibition in the United States lasted from 1920 to 1933. Regarding the choice of its name… Per Wikipedia: “The Untouchables “ were special agents of the US Bureau of Prohibition Led by Elliot Ness, who from 1930 to 1932 worked to end Al Capone‘s illegal activities by aggressively enforcing Prohibition laws against his organization. Legendary for being fearless and incorruptible they earned the nickname “The Untouchables “ after several agents refused large bribes from members of the Chicago outfit.
The restoration of UNTOUCHABLE began in 2015 and was completed in July 2021. During the six year restoration. I was able to trace the sequence of ownership back to 1953, identifying six individual owners. Ownership prior to 1953 is unknown.
I am pleased to continue the legacy of untouchable in the waters of Michigan.
