Owner’s Description
Vito Dumas is a wholesome double ended cutter built in Argentina in 1933. What makes her special is the success of the design and the period from which she originates.. It is one of the early designs of Manuel Campos which spent the first forty years of her life as “Irupe’” in the Rio de la Plata in Buenos Aires. After cruising northward through the Caribbean to Panama, the Ozan brothers made the passage to San Diego in 1974. I purchased the boat in early ‘76 and have owned her ever since. Many of her original features and interior have been maintained through the years excepting the gaff rig which was converted to Marconi with design by German Frers in 1943. Many of the changes I have done, such as making bronze replacements for the original galvanized hardware, were done to lessen the maintenance and improve ease of use. Vito continues to be a source of pride while providing a snug and capable platform for cruising northwest waters.Already a member? Log in herePhotos
