Owner’s Description
RIFF is a very light row-boat, built around 2005 to cross between Paihia and Russell* in The Bay of Islands. She later came into the keeping of artist David Barker. David lived near the historic Stone Store and RIFF became his up river transport to Kerikeri. Being a craft built for calm waters, RIFF found the choppy shores of the Waitemata Harbour a challenge when David Barker moved to Auckland. So, in January this year, after deciding I was worthy of her charms, he instructed me at my first row in her on the sheltered waters at Scotts Landing’ at the mouth of the Mahurangi River An event recorded in the accompanying photos. see on Google earth. *originally Kororareka, known to early sailors as the Hell Hole of the South PacificAlready a member?
