38' Monk Power Cruiser (1953) - THELONIUS

    Thelonius is a one-off custom design. Built in 1953 she looks 1920’s. A Portland Oregon dentist wanted a ‘traditional-style’ boat, so Ed Monk,Sr adapted an earlier plan. The result is a 1920’s look but with more living space, more head room, more visibility, more storage than would have been in the 20’s. Unique features include glue-wedged hull seams (rather than caulking), a V-driven engine mounted under the rear cockpit (rather than under the wheelhouse), and monel water and fuel tanks.
