ANNIE is the last of four K. Aage Nielsen coastal cruising yawls of the same design (251), all built by Paul Luke in the 1950s. Nielsen used his Pilot-class design for S&S as a starting point for these boats. ANNIE has been renovated over the last few years in Vineyard Haven, MA at Gannon & Benjamin with Myles Thurlow overhauling her rig. Originally SHAMROCK, she was previously homeported in Penobscot Bay as NAVIGATRIX.
At the 2023 WoodenBoat Show (Mystic Seaport) ANNIE was voted Best in Show for a professionally maintained sailboat.

I think you should come south and enter Annie in the Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race this year. Most people don’t know it, but there is an invitational, non-schooner class for traditional boats. This year’s charitable fun race is Oct. 3-8. Check it out at http://www.gcbsr.org we usually have 30-40 boats, and great traditional boat camaraderie on both ends of the race.

Phillips, I remember her in penobscot bay as “Navagatrix” we would pass each other sailing in the reach. She was beautiful then and still beautiful today a tribute to Aage Nielsen.
