Owner’s Description
This is an Molitor sailing canoe built by Old Town in 1921 and given to my grandfather. It has been in the family ever since – and stored in our barn in Surry, Maine for my entire life. The sail is a lateen rig set on solid wood spars. There is a short tiller attached to the middle thwart that controls the rudder through a line on each side of the boat. The decks are mahogany, 36″ and 24″ long. This boat is great for sailing and for carrying a load of camping gear. On one excursion, my partner and I paddled to an island in Moosehead Lake, Maine, USA where we set up camp for 2 nights. We then spent a day sailing around the lake in the canoe.
