Owner’s Description
This Vertue design #230 is the quintessential small off-shore boat. Having built or repaired many boats/yachts during my working career, I chose to build a Vertue for myself using cold molded hull construction and the best materials available including teak, cherry, walnut and mahogany woods and custom bronze pieces. After 8 years of construction we sailed her across the Atlantic and back in 2010-11. We are members of the Ocean Cruising Club. Now we sail the beautiful Maine waters although we were prepared to cross the Atlantic again in 2020 and 2021. She handles well and heaves to nicely, making her an all over well balanced boat; FLYING FISH is a joy to sail and comfortable to live aboard. The Vertue is a tried and true blue water sailboat with a long and storied history. In 2021 at the Mystic, CT WoodenBoat show, she won a “Best in Show” award. She was highlighted in 2 WoodenBoat Magazine articles and is listed on the Vertue Yacht site. Flying Fish is for sale.
