Owner’s Description
WHITECAP is a Tim Kernan designed motorboat inspired by George Griffith’s ULDB sailor’s motorboat SARISSA. She was composite built in balsa cored glass and carbon in 2005 by the well regarded sailboat builder Dennis Choate at Dencho Marine in Long Beach California. Long, relatively narrow and light weight for her size, she is easily drive by two 200 hp 6 cylinder Yanmar diesels. Although she can reach 25 knots, she is cruised at 16 knots +/- for a quieter, more economical, smoother and more pleasant experience. Her interior is very simple and straight forward much like that of a sailboat. Many of her past owners have been racing sailors hence the label “Sailor’s Motorboat”. She has an owner’s stateroom, a bunk room, a head and separate shower. Her pilot house is slightly raised up from her comfortable salon/galley. She does not have a generator instead uses a generous house bank of batteries and an inverter for peaceful anchoring. She has 360 watts of solar panels for charging while at anchor or moored. She was fitted with hydronic heat when she was moved to the PNW in 2018. Since that move to the PNW she has been the Support Tender for the Perry Sliver Class Daysailer FRANCIS LEE which is also in this boat show. WHITECAP carries a Russell Brown designed PT-11 nesting dinghy with sailing rig.Already a member? Log in herePhotos
