34' Falmouth Cutter (2016) - ASTRID

Lyle Hess 34ft Falmouth Cutter. Astrid is owner built built from a bare fiberglass hull from Channel Cutter Yachts over the course of ten years. The deck and cabins have been built using cold-molded building techniques which combine traditional aesthetics with a watertight and strong construction. She has been built with meticulous and uncompromising detail and materials. All hardware and fasteners are are bronze, most of the hardware custom cast to patterns made by the builder. The deck is Western red cedar with an 9/16″ overlay of Silver Bali, the cabins, combings, bulwark and cap are teak, the spars sitka spruce, rudder Sapelli Mahogany and black locust, bowsprit and boomkin Douglas fir. The interior is D. Fir and Mahogany with a bare teak sole. Throughout the build the emphasis was on simplicity and quality. There are minimal systems other than lights and the diesel motor. Plumbing is manual and the heater runs on kerosene.
