Owner’s Description
The late 1920s was a time of great prosperity in the US, and Compadre is an excellent example of the many fine motor yachts produced at that time. She is one of only four cruisers built to this design by Stephens Bros. Her original owner was Mr. Leland Adams, a mining engineer from San Francisco. Compadre is her original name, and she retains most of her original interior and exterior layout. As with all Stephens yachts, Compadre was built with the finest materials available. Her hull is Port Orford cedar over White Oak frames, bronze fastened, and her house is Burmese Teak. Originally powered by twin Lathrop Mystic gasoline engines, she was recently repowered with twin diesels.
Compadre spent many years cruising San Francisco Bay and was a familiar sight in the North Bay and Delta waters. Her present owners transported her to the Puget Sound area in 2007. She cruises easily at 9 knots, and with comfortable accommodations for four people she is particularly well suited for cruising Pacific Northwest waters.
