38' Muff Flybridge Cruiser (1973) - CREE

CREE was built and launched in Oakdale, NY on July 29, 1973 by Francis ‘Otzi’ Muff. Originally named Summer Daze, she’s planked in mahogany with white oak frames. CREE cruises primarily in Rhode Island, Connecticut and Massachusetts waters these days.

She was the last boat built by Otzi, as a retirement yacht to cruise the Long Island waters. Following his death in 1975, she had at least two owners during the 70s & 80s, sinking once at the dock, and adding a flybridge.
CREE was fully refurbished in 2000-2002 by her 3rd owner in Northport, NY. Taken back to bare wood, the interior was fully reconfigured, all planks and seams epoxied, and below the water seams sealed with 3M 5200.
Tom and Liela purchased CREE in April 2017, and subsequently undertook 3+ years of updating and repairs, while cruising summers in Rhode Island and Massachusetts Water. Recent upgrades/ updates include topsides paint, and fully refinished transom by Thomas Townsend in 2019, upgraded queen size berth, and the addition of a swim platform in 2020.
